Mission
Grounded Strategies works to improve the social, economic, and environmental health of distressed and transitional communities by building capacity to reclaim vacant and underutilized land.
About
Vacant Land Activation: Grounded aims to increase community empowerment to address urban environmental injustices through programs that engage residents, local youth, and community organizations to reclaim vacant land and make tangible improvements to the quality of open space in their neighborhoods.
Vacant Land Stewardship: Grounded is committed to supporting systemic change to vacant land maintenance in Pittsburgh and the region. We understand true change must reflect the will and values of everyday residents.Grounded is working to improve the condition of vacant lots by developing sustainable solutions that can address the environmental and racial injustices currently entrenched in our property maintenance system. The lack of a comprehensive and unified strategy to care for vacant lots disproportionately affects low-income communities of color.
Vacant Land Resources: In order to reduce barriers to planning, implementing, and maintaining community outdoor projects, our team offers wide-ranging support for neighbors and small organizations. Our resources include The PGH Mobile Toolbox, Land Doctor consultations, Lots to Love Online and the Refresh Fund.
